Michael Estella

Managing Director


Michael is one of the few remaining original employees of the company. After the first few years as a Manager, he earned promotion to Managing Director and has been at the helm of the company for now well over 25 years. He has spearheaded the company’s strategic objectives and policies, with the help of his Senior Management, and his drive and work ethos has been instrumental in ensuring the company attained its current position as the leader in the local construction industry.

George Federico

Senior Manager (Production and Workshops)

George has been with the company since its incorporation back in 1988. Introduced as a regular joiner in 1989, George’s unrivalled work ethic, together with an undisputed passion for the construction industry, has seen him progress through the ranks, eventually earning him promotion to the senior management team. George is responsible for overseeing all works carried out inside the workshops, as well as managing stringent production objectives.

Stephen Valarino

Senior Manager (Finance and Administration)

Stephen joined the company back in 1996 and due to his previous experience and background knowledge on tax issues and financial matters, he took his position within the Senior Management team in 2002. He has been responsible for the implementation of all the administrative and financial procedures currently in place, ranging from providing and interpreting financial information, developing financial management mechanisms, liaising with auditors to supervising staff.

Gino Catania

Senior Manager (Projects and Commercial)


Gino joined the Company in 1989 after graduating and was responsible for managing the first major projects that the company undertook. In 1994 Gino left the company and worked for on major construction projects both in Gibraltar and internationally. Gino returned to GJBS in 2009 as the Senior Projects and Commercial manager and has been instrumental in the growth of the company in terms of magnitude and complexity of projects undertaken. Gino is responsible for the Commercial, Contractual and Project Management aspects of all major projects.

Glenn Pearce

General Manager (1988 – 2009)

Glenn was also one of the original employees of the company and instrumental in guiding the company through its early years. A very capable, responsible and hard-working individual, also a mechanical engineer, who was deeply respected by both the white and blue collar workers of the company. He always lead by example and many of the working practices he introduced into the company’s operations still exist today. A true professional. Unfortunately Glenn passed away after a short but very aggressive illness in 2009 but his legacy lives on and he will forever be in our hearts and memories. An outstanding human being who we were all proud to have known and loved and who will forever be our General Manager.

He was Glenn with a double nn and he was the best of us.
