The New Clay Target Shooting Facility situated in a unique location on Europa advance road providing spectacular views into the Straits of Gibraltar, the Mediterranean and North Africa.
What once used to be an open shooting platform with a portacabin for cover has been transformed into a new state of the art facility with a new shooting platform able to host Olympic Trap and Olympic Skeet competitions with new clubhouse facilities underneath.
Awarded to GJBS as a Design and Build contract which commenced in May 2018 and practically completed in July 2019 for the International Island Games.
The contract involved the demolition and removal of existing structures to allow for the construction of a new reinforced concrete framed structure consisting of a Level -1 clubhouse facility with showers, changing facilities, kitchen, bar, offices and secure gun room, Storage cut into the existing slope and covered with a concrete ground floor Clay Target Shooting Platform with skeet towers, viewing platform, referees rooms and with a new disabled access lift.
A very challenging construction project due to its unique location and proximity to the Gorham’s Cave Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site, involved much consultation with Gibraltar Heritage and the Gibraltar Museum to ensure all materials used and construction processes adopted were accepted and approved prior to works proceeding.
