The demolition and clearance of the old yard facility followed by construction of a new structure to form the new storage depot, showroom and offices for D&H Ceramics. Extensive piling works were carried out followed by a raft foundation slab and a reinforced concrete frame. A difficult part of the project was marrying the new with the existing building for vehicle access so a complicated structure was designed to bridge the gap and make the structure waterproof. Modern rain screen cladding was introduced to two of the building’s elevations which saw artificial stone panels fixed to a steel frame standing proud of the building so rainwater can run down behind the panels.
